Was John Keats MURDERED? By his FIANCEÉ?!? No. He died of consumption AKA tuberculosis. But for decades after his death a pervasive belief persisted; one that implicated his fiancée, Fanny Brawne, in his premature death. Brawne’s role in Keats’s final days was frequently scrutinised and often maligned, both by the poet’s friends and by literary critics writing towards the end of the Victorian period. But why? Was there, indeed, no smoke without fire? Or was Brawne the victim of a patriarchal literary institution that vilified her in an attempt to ‘protect’ Keats? Watch our latest video to find out. 📺Try Acorn TV for free by going to 🤍 and use my promo code "abbycox"! Thanks, AcornTV for sponsoring this video! How I ended up *here* with this topic is a bit...well..chaotic and rambly, however, who doesn't love a good quick little list video on youtube? So in this video, we're listing 5 historical films from the 2000s-ish that have pretty damn good costumes (or just overall historically-ness) First is King Arthur (2004) - Watch 🤍TheWelshViking 's video about King Arthur here: 🤍 Next is Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day (2008) - this movie deserves more credit. It's got a fantastic cast and the costumes in this movie are just divine. Plus, we have a piano playing, singing, and punch throwing in a tux Lee Pace. The third is Bright Star (2009) - A gorgeous, heartbreaking film that takes place in 1818-1821. The Regency costumes are just perfection, and if you're looking for a Regency-era movie without the Jane Austen, this one is a great choice. Then Mona Lisa Smile (2005) - this movie is discussed in relation to Dark Academia (cause, duh, look at it) but the vintage clothing, hair, makeup, etc for the 1950s is just spot on and so so good. It also just holds a really soft spot in my Art History major heart. Finally is The Mummy (1999) - yeah, ok, it's not technically 2000s, but it's close enough in my book. Mostly, this is a defense and celebration of Evie's eyebrows. The styling of Evie is just *so damn good* and so spot-on for the late 1910s and early 1920s. Plus, Brendan Fraser, who is a national treasure. Here's 🤍rachelmaksy 's video with The Vintage Egyptologist here: 🤍 I apologize for all the 'likes' in this video. This is one of the matches where the score hides the great match. Anyway, we'll see (a bit) more of them in the coming weeks, so don't lose hope on your favourite, yet (That said, I'm still rooting for Warwick). Original air date 16.1.2017
🤍 From The Piano to In the Cut, writer-director Jane Campion always puts strong women characters at the center. Whether shes a mute woman like Holly Hunters Oscar-winning role in The Piano or Meg Ryans writing professor in In the Cut, Campions heroines are mostly disempowered women living outside mainstream society. In Bright Star, Campions heroine is Fanny Brawne (the breathtaking Abbie Cornish), a smart, young dressmaker who will do anything if someone tries to break her relationship with the man she loves, the great romantic poet, John Keats (Ben Whishaw). Inspired by the acclaimed biography of Keats written by Andrew Motion, Campion focuses on the love story between Brawne and Keats. Told through the eyes of the poets love and inspiration, their romance inspired some of the most beautiful love letters ever written. Their correspondence would later scandalize Victorian society. Told during the last three years in the life of Keats, the unlikely pair started at odds. Keats thinks Brawne is a stylish minx, while she is wholly unimpressed by his literature. But love soon blossoms and inspires Keats to write some of his most brilliant works such as 'Ode on a Grecian Urn,' 'Ode on Melancholy' and 'Ode to a Nightingale.' I have the feeling as if I were dissolving, Keats tells Brawne. Indeed, the young lovers are swept into powerful, uncontrollable sensations. Charles Armitage Brown (Paul Schneider affecting a believable Scottish accent), Keats friend and benefactor, tries to separate the lovers away. Perhaps due to jealousy or Brown is just overprotective of Keats. I commend Campion for not offering a clear answer. Written by Campion herself, the films tone is like a ballad. The narrative is told in verses beginning with the couples involvement all the way to their problems. Yet, the director uses restraints in telling the story as if to mimic Brawnes own life limitations. The greatest line in the film is told when Keats confronts Brown and says, There is a holiness to the hearts affections. Campion clearly understands the romantic impulse of the human heart. And it helps that her leading actors, Cornish and Whishaw, have incredible chemistry. Bright Star is also visually splendid. Cinematographer Greig Fraser lovingly shot each frame to replicate the films romantic theme. Whether its Keats atop a tree or Brawne walking in a snow-filled night, you will be drawn into the powerful, hypnotic look of the movie. If youre looking to know more about the life of Keats, the poet, you may be disappointed with Bright Star. But if you want to dig deeper into the mind of Keats, the lover, then you will enjoy the film. It celebrates the frailties of love and sorrow. Bright Star reveals a great untold love story about one of literatures tragic figures. Its a romantic film told with an intriguing feminist angle. In the end, only death can separate Keats and Brawne, but their love lives on to this day. Bright Star gets 3 ½ kisses The great director talked about: Her inspiration for the film "Bright Star" Why she waited long before making a follow-up film for 2003's "In the Cut" She almost quit the business of making movies! Her strong women characters Making a film based on her script vs. someone else's script She explains the line "there's a holiness to the heart's affections" Her romantic impulse Working with Abbie Cornish How's Anna Paquin? This is a fun, in-depth interview. If you love movies, you'll love this :) HAVE FUN!
This is one of the most remarkable poems of John Keats. This title is in french language which means the beautiful lady without mercy. It is the story of a knight and a beautiful but merciless lady. It is the story of Keats himself in which Keats is the knight and fanny brawne is the beautiful but merciless lady. To Understand the chapter clearly Kindly watch this video till end.

Lecture -365-Bright Star! Would I were steadfast as Thou Art by John Keats : Introduction : -It is a nature and romantic love poem by John Keats who has revised it for his beloved, Fanny Brawn with whom he was infatuated i. e. momentarily inspired and passionate. -Written in 1818, it was published in 1838 in " The Polymouth and Devonport Weekly Journal, 17 years after his death officially for his beloved's love because she leaves him as he is a T. B. patient. -John Keats addresses this poem to Polaris called the North Star or Pole Star which is brightest and very close to the North Celestial Pole like the heaven. -The poet's love, Fanny Brawne is sleeping so he wants to be silent like the star. He talks on the star's hidden qualities more because it is steadfast and passive in watching nature. -Being a T.B. patient, he loves death as alternative to love because Fanny has denied his love. -The poem is written in Shakespearean rhyme called " ABAB-CDCD-EFEF-GG" with a turn or change into serious thought after octave. Body of the Poem: -The bright star is a symbol of Fanny as eternal love. The poet wishes to be like the bright star but permanently he can't leave his human life because the star has no interest in human life which is greater than other life on the earth. -Fanny has sacrificed poet's body but not his heavenly love which he has for her as per the poet but he knows he can't win her love as she has accepted the materialistic life. -His love is fragile i. e. easily broken and feared by death but he guarantees that it shall be greater and stranger than other loves on earth. -His love shall be an ideal dream in which they shall be permanent lovers and She is as beautiful as the bright star. -They can't enjoy their ideal, eternal and dreamy love because of separation. -Common man's love is nothing before them being materialistic. Here spiritual love is platonic and eternal as per the poet. -The star watches moving water and new soft snow mask fallen on earth as if duty. -The poet personifies the star and talks with him. The star is a guide to manage the poet's time with his beloved and never sleeps like Fanny Brawne. The star shines selflessly whereas man works for self only. -Man should work selflessly like the star as per the poet because the star is a hermit, Eremite or a person shining alone in the wilderness. -Only a dead man can reach the steadiness of the star as per the poet. It means he has to die to go to the star. -The poet hopes that the bright star will guide man working in the dark life. This is the poet's dream and we know no dream is fulfilled. -He uses the figures of speech like " metaphor, personification and simile with the iambic pentameter of stressed and unstressed syllable pattern. -He calls his beloved Bright Star laughingly as she is not the bright star in reality. -0000 Please like and subscribe. Wolfson was published by the Keats-Shelley House on 31 October 2021 to coincide with John Keats’s birthday. To mark the occasion and launch the book we streamed a virtual event on 31 October in the form of a reading of selections from Keats’s letters explored in the book. Keats-Shelley200 actor Fred Fergus read from Keats's bedroom and we heard a specially recorded message from the author. The book has been designed entirely in-house and printed in Rome. All proceeds from sales will go directly to the upkeep of the Keats-Shelley House. "Keats’s poet-autobiography, The Fall of Hyperion, breaks off at the words “on he flared”, about a god who, having seen the fall of brother gods to mortality, knows his doom, yet meets it with fierce resistance. Here are four of Keats’s letters showing the man and the craftsman embracing life’s energies with death on a too-near horizon: on he flared." (Susan J. Wolfson, Professor of English, Princeton University.) “Susan J. Wolfson is among the most perceptive, witty, and engaging of Keats’s numerous interpreters, and this collection of essays about four letters by Keats is the perfect introduction to his life and times.” (Duncan Wu, Raymond Wagner Professor in Literary Studies, Georgetown University) “Sharp, shrewd, and smart – in this volume Susan Wolfson engages brilliantly with John Keats’s greatest letters, attentive to his verbal genius in its finest and most subtle details and inflections. Each of these four remarkable essays carries us with fresh understanding into the heart of Keats’s extraordinary achievement.” (Nicholas Roe, Wardlaw Professor of English Literature at the University of St Andrews and author of John Keats: A New Life.)

International Summer School / 🤍let-group.com ENVIRONMENTAL AND RESOURCE MANAGEMENT 2009 ..... Dr. Kjell Nilsson ..... Peri - urban Land use relationships - strategies and sustainability assessment tools forurban - rural linkages Twithin the 6th Research Framework Programme of the European Union. 31 partners from 14 European countries and China participate in the project, which is coordinated by the Danish Centre for Forest, Landscape and Planning at the University of Copenhagen. PLUREL’s main study object is the so-called Rural Urban Region (RUR). The idea of a RUR is an extended form of a Functional Urban Region, i.e. the concept used to describe an urban core and its surrounding commuting ring. The RUR extends beyond today’s rings of intense interaction with the core city, as it also includes lands for recreational use, food supply, nature reserve and ecological service functions in predominantly rural areas. In seven case study regions; Montpellier (FR), Leipzig (DE), Warsaw (PL), Koper (SI), Haaglanden (NL), Manchester (UK) and Hangzhou (CN), local stakeholders are involved in analysis of the regional context as well as development of scenarios and strategies. Of existing scenario frameworks, it is suggested that the basic scenarios of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC-SRES scenarios) best satisfy these diverse criteria. These scenarios are used by IPCC to represent the main driving forces of global change and estimate the emissions of green house gases. They are expressed in simple narratives which outline principally different futures. The scenarios can be ordered on two main axes which may be called a governance axis and a value axis: a) whether futures are determined by top-down, global decision-making or bottom-up regional dynamics, and b) whether the policies are geared towards public values or private benefits. .....
