The soldier picks several targets and attack kinds by peering through a command launch unit. Javelin is a fire-and-forget missile with autonomous self-guidance and lock-on before launch. When assaulting armoured vehicles, the system uses a top-attack flight profile, striking the normally thinner top armour, although it may also launch a direct attack on structures, targets too near for top attack, targets under obstructions, and helicopters. Recently it has been used in Ukraine against the Russian invasion where it has been proved as a lethal weapon. Enough said let go to the detail of its operation and how it works. Breaking it down the Javelin Missile is divided into 7 parts, 1)The sensors which guides the missile to its Target. 2)A small "precursor charge" that can be used to overcome reactive armour or other impediments. 3)The Guidance System which is the brain of the Missile along with the Sensor. 4)The Main Charge which is detonated after the Precursor. 5)The Main Flight Motor using conventional rocket propellant. 6)The v Stabilizing the Missile. 7)And last part of the missile is the Launch Motor, engaged just to clear some space for the soldier.... The gunner carries a reusable Command Launch Unit (in addition to the Launch Tube Assembly), often known as a C L U also pronounced "clue", which is the two-part system's aiming component. The CLU includes three views that may be used to detect, target, and fire the missile. It can also be used as a portable thermal sight when not attached to the missile. The Launch Tube Assembly, which houses the missile and protects it from severe circumstances, is carried by both the gunner and the ammo bearer. The tube also features built-in electronics and a locking hinge system, allowing for quick and easy attachment and removal of the missile from the Command Launch Unit. It has a length of 1.1 metre or 43 inches with a barrel of 1.2 metre or 47 inches with a diametre of 142 mm or 5.6 inches. The Warhead weigh around 19 pound or 8.4 KG This can pierce armour with a thickness of 600 to 800 mm Rolled homogeneous armour. It has a maximum firing range is 2500 metres. A variant of the Javelin with a range of 4750 metres was recently created by the company. This is the trajectory of the javelin the soldier could assign at a push of a button, which we will elaborate later. Soldiers from Headquarters and Headquarters Troop, 3rd Squadron, 2d Cavalry Regiment and the Latvian Land Forces get hands on time with the Javelin Missile at Camp Adazi, Latvia, as part of training during Operation Atlantic Resolve. Javelin is a fire-and-forget missile with lock-on before launch and automatic self-guidance. The system takes a top-attack flight profile against armored vehicles (attacking the top armor, which is generally thinner), but can also take a direct-attack mode for use against buildings. This missile also has the ability to engage helicopters in the direct attack mode. It is equipped with an imaging infrared seeker. The missile is ejected from the launcher so that it reaches a safe distance from the operator before the main rocket motors ignite; a "soft launch arrangement". This makes it harder to identify the launcher; however, back-blast from the launch tube still poses a hazard to nearby personnel. Thanks to this "fire and forget" system, the firing team may change their position as soon as the missile has been launched, or prepare to fire on their next target while the first missile is still in the air. The missile system is most often carried by a two man team consisting of a gunner and an ammo bearer, although it can be fired with just one person if necessary. While the gunner aims and fires the missile, the ammo bearer scans for prospective targets, watches for threats such as enemy vehicles and troops, and ensures personnel and obstacles are clear of the missile's back blast. 🤍 AiirSource℠ covers military events and missions from the Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force, and Coast Guard. 🤍 Like & share this video to show your support for the troops! Among the various tank models used by Russia in Ukraine, the T-72 is the most common and has suffered the most casualties. Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine is already going down in history as the biggest tank slaughter Europe has seen since World War II. According to some sources Russia has lost 1,450 tanks since the war began, nearly 900 of which have been damaged or destroyed. Since its introduction, the main battle tank has been one of the most striking elements of the battlefield. It is impossible not to be intimidated by these metal giants. But as scary as giants are, almost all of them have a weak spot. And to exploit that weakness you will need the proper weapon. FGM-148 Javelin was developed in the latter years of the cold war to fulfill the role of a man-portable and mobile anti-tank weapon that would allow individual soldiers to quickly target tanks and escape to cover before being seen. This weapon enables a single soldier to move around the battlefield enabling guerrilla warfare tactics to be used against an invading army. FGM-148 Javelin is a fire and forget missile capable of guiding itself to the most vulnerable region of a tank. The Javelin weapon system has become synonymous with Ukrainian resistance against Russia. But making these high tech weapons isn't easy. Can the U.S. keep supplying Javelins to Ukraine while maintaining its own stockpile of these modern anti-armor weapons? Ukraine's defense against Russia is being supported by billions of dollars in military aid from NATO countries. One of the most capable and expensive weapon systems supplied is the FGM-148 Javelin, a U.S.-made anti-armor weapon that costs about $176,000 each. "We don't know where and when the next kinetic war will be, and producing new weapons surging production lines takes time," said Cynthia Cook, a Senior Fellow at the Center for Strategic and International Studies. "This may be a time where we might want to think about how we invest in increasing the inventory of precision-guided weapons and other weapons and missiles." Although the Javelin has been lauded by the Ukrainian government, the actual effectiveness of the weapon system remains hard to independently verify outside of anecdotal accounts from the battlefield. "We don't have folks on the ground, and I think that is a policy decision that we should reconsider," said U.S. Rep. Mark Waltz, R-Fla., a former U.S. Army Green Beret. "We could help them be actually more effective if we had advisors alongside, but we'd have to do that in very small numbers very selectively, and very quietly." This is an informative video about the FMG-148 Javelin top attack missile system. I'm your average infantryman Chris Cappy here to examine my top favorite Infrared Guided Anti-Tank Missile and 11th favorite Olympic sport, the Javelin. The FGM-148 Javelin for those of you who don’t know is America’s predominant man portable guided anti-tank weapon. It uses infrared tracking in order to guide itself to the target, making it not only easy to use, but highly effective and accurate against enemy armored threats. Follow Cappy 🤍 So what kind of DARPA space magic makes this thing work? How is it used on a Modern Battlefield? What are the pros and cons of using it vs. something like an AT4 or Carl Gustav? And why didn’t my squad leader ever let me play with one? Prototype development began for the Javelin launcher in 1989. But you’re probably thinking, when was the last time the US military faced off against a column of enemy tanks, what have all these soldiers been firing $100K dollar missiles at the sides of mountains? And that's not far from the case. Written by: Chris Cappy & Justin Taylor Edited by: Chris Cappy #JAVELIN #MILITARY #MISSILE

In service since 1997, the FGM-148 Javelin is an advanced man-portable anti-tank guided missile developed by the United States. Designed to replace the lackluster M47 Dragon, the Javelin was leaps and bounds ahead of anything fielded at that time, and is still one of the best anti-tank systems in the world today. The Javelin man-portable anti-tank missile system can be called the "tank destroyer" in the Ukrainian war. With their help, hundreds of tanks were destroyed and continue to be destroyed to this day. When a Ukrainian infantryman has a Javelin in his hands, he is not afraid of any tank. It only takes a few seconds to lock onto a target, and one second to press the start button. Further, the Javelin missile will cope with the target itself. Not a single tank can withstand a hit by this missile. Look how beautifully he destroys Russian tanks.
